10th Blyth

The most worth-while thing is to try to put happiness into the lives of others. - Robert Baden-Powell

About Us

Be Prepared... the meaning of the motto is that a scout must prepare himself by previous thinking out and practicing how to act on any accident or emergency so that he is never taken by surprise.

Robert Baden-Powell
10th Blyth are committed to provide Scouting that is inclusive to all young people, aged 6 to 18 regardless of background, race or religion. Activities are a crucial part of Scouting and essential when providing an exciting, rewarding and memorable experience for young people. As well as being challenging physically, our activities help young people set and achieve goals and grow in confidence.
We offer the chance of a mixture of activities, including kayaking, abseiling, staged performance and archery. With Scouts, young people also get the chance to develop skills in IT, PR and mechanics. There’s something for every young person, whatever their ability. We meet at the Central Methodist Church in Beaconsfield Street and have Beaver, Cub and Scout sections.

'As a young boy, scouting gave me a confidence and camaraderie that is hard to find in modern life'

Bear Grylls, Chief Scout
What Scouting says to people is: it's okay to go for it in life". "Every child has a right to have an adventure. Life is about grabbing opportunities. The prizes don't always go to the biggest, the best and the strongest - they go to those who persevere. These are simple life lessons that Scouting teaches people
Bear Grylls, Chief Scout
"The Scout Movement is a world leader in educating youth. Scouting inspires patriotism, sound moral values, courage, character-building, self-reliance and community awareness. It also motivates our young people to achieve their full potential." - Nelson Mandela Former Scout.

Our beavers meet on a Tuesday night between 5.45 and 7pm; Their activities are based around making things, outdoor activities, playing games, learning how to be safe and most importantly, making new friends.

Beaver Scouts are the youngest section of the Scouting family. Beavers are boys and girls aged between six and eight years old, though they can be as young as five and three quarters. Beavers take part in the Scout Association balanced programme working towards the Bronze Chief Scout award by completing 6 Challenge badges and a wide range of the 19 Activity badges available.

Robert Baden-Powell
Scouts aims to build and develop young people’s confidence, sense of adventure and outdoor skills, as well as encouraging them to explore their beliefs and attitudes and be creative. It offers them the independence to put these skills into practice at camps and even on international trips.

Why Choose Us?

We’re Creative

Its craftily creative at beavers, cubs and scouts are more creative in imagination and learn how to think out of the box.

We’re Punctual

All sections start and finish on time and of course we always return from camp on time - we do reserve the right to over run if we are having fun - and if you ask any of our group we always have fun.

We have Magic

We turn quiet shy little ones into confident 'we can do that' children. Everyone is asked to do their best and they always do.

We are Fun

Of course we are - Scouting should be fun for all the children and adults that participate.

We’re Responsible

We take the safety of your children very seriously and carry out full risk assessments for all activities. Scouting also has guidelines which we must follow whenever we have your children at Scouting events.

We're Friendly

Fun and Friends is the catchphrase at Beavers, There's no can't at Cubs and Scouts are encouraged to work in teams and help each other. Sounds serious? not really we just encourage all our sections to join in, take part and have fun no matter what they do or at what their ability. Scouting is for all and we mean it.
